About:

OSU College of Forestry

The OSU Research Forests were donated to the College of Forestry to serve as living classrooms and laboratories to both teach and learn about all aspects of forests.  Today, thousands of visitors use the McDonald and Dunn Forests each year to engage in outdoor activities and come away learning something new about forests.  The forested hills of the McDonald Forest dominate the view looking north out of the city of Corvallis, Oregon.  On the forest, 26 miles of single track trail and more than 100 miles of roads are available for exercise, exploration, and connecting with nature.  The forest is used frequently by hikers, dog walkers, trail runners, mountain bikers, and equestrians.  Limited hunting occurs on the Dunn Forest as well.As a working forest, the land is actively managed, meaning that visitors are likely to see administrative vehicles, logging trucks, closure areas, and evidence of timber harvest during their visit.  Funds generated through timber harvest serve to fund the management of the OSU Research Forests, and support student learning in the College of Forestry.

While enjoying the Research Forests, please follow these simple rules http://cf.forestry.oregonstate.edu/recreation
